As more students began to use digital fabrication in their businesses, there became a greater demand for decentralized support so students would require less hand-holding and educators could have more guidance at their fingertips while teaching. To develop a solution to these challenges, I participated in the Cambridge Public School’s Design Lab, an incubator fostering intrapreneurship among educators. With the Design Lab’s guidance, I conducted interviews with educators, students, board members, and external experts, and convened a makerspace working group to brainstorm ideas. The working group determined that an online resource center would have the greatest return on investment. I developed MakerHub using Wordpress, and designed it to be visually inviting to encourage engagement and community updates over time. From the start, I asked educators to help build out its content to cultivate a shared sense of ownership. The site can be accessed at http://makerhub.possibleproject.org.
